3am Revelations at Rencontres Trans Musicales in FRANCE
3am Revelations (Christine specifically) is going to Europe to cover the blog's first international festival!
I'm heading to Rennes, France, to be exact, to cover one of the oldest running (this is it's 37th year), and most respected festivals at breaking new artists, Rencontres Trans Musicales De Rennes, or simply known as "Les Trans".
The list of bands that have performed in the past is impressive (check out just a few), and have included Canadian acts such as: The Sheepdogs (2012), Zeds Dead (2012) Doldrums (2012), A Tribe Called Red (2013), Colin Stetson (2011), A-Trak (2014), Rich Aucoin (2014) (check out this video I found)...and I'm sure there are many more!
The infographic on where the bands performing come from, their status regarding labels and signing, etc. is pretty interesting:
The programming includes debates, dance groups, and of course, music over the course of the festival.
Side note, this year, also coming all the way from Vancouver, Dralms will be performing on two different nights in Rennes.
I'm very much looking forward to the festival, photographing and documenting the journey for you on this website, and our social media accounts, and most importantly, discovering a LOT of new music.
The festival has created a playlist of songs by the bands performing, and I've embedded it below. If there is someone on the artist list you think I should absolutely not miss, let me know in the comments!
So far, based on the name alone, I definitely want to catch Steve 'n' Seagulls (Finland); how can you say no to "Thunderstruck" on a banjo?
