To catch up anyone who missed the memo - last weekend Victoria was full of entertainment lawyers, award show hosts, industry professionals and musicians for Rifflandia, Breakout West and the Western Canadian Music Awards. Jess and Christine were around shooting the event and here's the re-cap of the best moments.

First off, huge thanks to Acura Canada for the RDX (lovingly nicknamed "Dracura") for the weekend to get to and from the festival. There was tons of room for all my camping gear and photo equipment and I made a pitstop at Porteau Cove along the Sea To Sky Hwy to have some lunch in the sunshine. Day two of the 38th annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival was jam packed with music. I got there at 11am for one of the first workshops of the day and stayed until 8:30pm for some main stage.
It was a good day of music (and bad day of sunburns) so click through to read all about a workshop with Hawksley Workman, Jenn Grant, and Matt & Jill Barber, as well as daytime concerts from Jasper Sloan Yip, Jenn Grant, The Barbers, and a few more.

This year, the festival opened early on Friday for some afternoon workshops. I got there just in time a pretty solid workshow called Cross Country Checkup featuring Jenn Grant, Fortunate Ones, Hawksley Workman, and Jasper Sloan Yip. The main stage acts for the night included Frazey Ford, Said the Whale, and (once again) Hawskley Workman.

The CBC Musical Nooners continued this past week (and this one coming up), and the annual Khatsahlano Festival drew huge crowds to the free shows all along West 4th Ave.
